Bishop: We've Come A Long Way

Strikes says the future is bright for Pompey

A finish of eighth in League One was not what Pompey were hoping for when the season started back in July.

But Colby Bishop believes that the side have shown what they are capable of achieving with their recent performances.

The campaign concluded with a chance-laden 2-2 draw against Wycombe at Fratton Park, with Marlon Pack and Paddy Lane on target for the hosts.

Bishop felt it was a display to be proud of and is confident that Pompey can succeed under John Mousinho.

The striker said: “It was an entertaining game that we controlled in large parts and you can see it coming together for us.

“We’ve come a long way since January and when everything clicks together for us, I think we’ll be a force.

"Some of the football we played in this match is probably up there with the best we’ve seen all season."

“The gaffer is implementing the way he wants the team to play and that can take a bit of time to get sorted.

“Some of the football we played in this match is probably up there with the best we’ve seen all season.

“Now there will probably be a week or two of rest because getting back to it. I’ll spend some time with family and friends.”

Bishop followed up his success at Tuesday night’s awards dinner by collecting a haul of 13 Player of the Season trophies.

He said: “I’ve got so much gratitude for the fans and I really am so grateful for everyone who voted for me.

“This is my first season at the club and I’ve been able to score a lot of goals, so hopefully that will continue.”
