All you need to know about Emirates FA Cup tie

There will be plenty of familiar faces on show when Pompey make the trip to Chesterfield for an Emirates FA Cup first round tie on Sunday (12.15pm kick-off).

The home side are managed by Paul Cook, who memorably guided the Blues to the League Two title on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign.

Part of that squad was Gary Roberts, who is on his coaching team, while former Fratton midfielders Michael Jacobs and Tom Naylor are now plying their trade at the SMH Group Stadium.

They have all helped the Spireites climb to the National League summit – two points ahead of Barnet with a game in hand.

Cook is in his second spell in charge, having previously taken them from the fourth tier to the third, where they reached the play-offs prior to his departure to Pompey.

But after leaving Derbyshire, they tumbled down the divisions and are now playing non-league football for a sixth successive season.

Chesterfield almost escaped last term, but Notts County twice fought from behind before eventually triumphing on penalties in the play-off final at Wembley.

The Spireites enjoyed a 5-0 rout of Kettering last month to reach the first round proper of this competition.

Pompey have won both previous FA Cup meetings between the sides – an intermediate stage tie in 1905 and third round contest in 1969.

TEAM NEWS
Josh Dockerill (knee), Tom Lowery (knee), Connor Ogilvie (ankle), Marlon Pack (ankle) and Anthony Scully (knee) are sidelined.

Pompey’s loan trio of Tino Anjorin, Abu Kamara and Alex Robertson have all been given permission to play.

Jacobs and Naylor are both expected to be involved for Chesterfield against their former club, but Joe Quigley (ankle) and Tyrone Williams (thigh) are injured.

SECOND ROUND DRAW
Pompey or Chesterfield will be ball number three in Sunday’s draw, which is shown live on ITV1 from 2.30pm.
