There is a common theme running across Pompey’s past three games – all of which have been won by a single-goal margin.
Paddy Lane has netted in each of those three fixtures, finding the target against Barnsley, Lincoln and Wigan.
The latter of them saw the Northern Ireland volley into the net right in front of the travelling Blues fans to seal a 2-1 victory.
And with the side currently sitting at the League One summit, Lane admits that spirits are high in the squad.
He said: “It’s good to go up north again, collect three points and stay top of the league – I couldn’t be happier.
“The ball came across, it took a couple of deflections and just fell to me nicely. Luckily, I tucked it away.

“I’ve been working on getting in those positions with Zesh, the gaffer and Jon. They work hard with everyone week in, week out.
“When I do get in them, then I trust myself to put the ball in the back of the net. I’m just playing with confidence.
“We’ve got such a great group of lads and we all believe in each other, plus doing it in front of those fans again is such a special feeling.
“My family were in there and it’s superb – it’s something you can’t match. But I wouldn’t be in those positions without the rest of the team.
“We all know what the aim is and we’re not going to get carried away, but the mood is good in the dressing room.
“The games come so thick and fast and we’ve had a great September, but now we want to stay up there in the table.”
