Loan Watch: Keepers Make Key Saves

Find out how Pompey players fared

30 October 2023

Several members of the Pompey squad were involved for their loan clubs over the past week.

Josh Oluwayemi
There were two key performances from the Pompey keeper in National League South home draws for Chelmsford.

The first of them saw the Clarets fight back on three separate occasions to collect a midweek point against Dover, with Oluwayemi making a fine save in stoppage-time.

And he produced an impressive display on Saturday to keep a clean sheet in a goalless stalemate with Taunton.

Toby Steward
The teenage keeper started for Gosport as they scored two late goals to win 2-1 at Beaconsfield at remain top of the Southern League Premier.

But Boro’s scheduled FA Trophy tie at Bognor on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged surface.

Haji Mnoga
The defender struck the woodwork in a midweek home contest with Maidenhead, that saw Aldershot fight from two goals down to win 4-2

But he was an unused substitute in a 2-1 loss at Dorking a few days later, which leaves the Shots just inside the National League play-off places.

Liam Vincent
The full-back started for Worthing as they were beaten 4-1 at Hampton & Richmond in the National League South on Tuesday night.

He was then an unused substitute as they bounced back to secure a 2-0 away triumph against Bath at the weekend.

Destiny Ojo
The academy striker was brought off the bench for Poole in the second half of their midweek trip to Hungerford.

And he scored a stoppage-time consolation in a 2-1 defeat that leaves them ninth in the Southern League Premier standings.

The wet weather meant that the Dolphins’ FA Trophy clash with Bracknell at the weekend had to be postponed.

Harvey Laidlaw
The teenage defender made another start for Horndean, but they lost 2-0 at Ramsgate on Wednesday night.

And the heavy rain at the weekend meant an Isthmian League South-East Division fixture against Ashford United was also called off.

Harry Jewitt-White
The midfielder came on as a late substitute for Havant & Waterlooville in their 4-1 midweek home defeat to Aveley.

But he then remained on the bench for a 1-1 draw with Weymouth at Westleigh Park, as the Hawks stay bottom of National League South.

Jack Fox & Maxwell Hurst
Defender Fox started and striker Hurst came off the bench for Baffins as they were beaten 4-0 at high-flying AFC Stoneham in the Wessex League Premier.
