Match Preview: Plymouth v Pompey Women

Blues back on the road

11 October 2023

Pompey Women are back on the road this Sunday as they take on Plymouth Argyle at AFC Torpoint (2pm kick-off).

It is the Blues' first National League trip since the 8-0 success at Chatham last month.

Georgie Freeland and Dani Lane both bagged braces that day, with Emma Jones, Beth Lumsden, Emily Pitman and an own-goal completing the victory.

And Jay Sadler's side go into the game on the back of another thumping 7-0 win over Billericay on home soil last weekend.

Lumsden and Nicole Barrett netted twice, while Ali Hall, Sophie Quirk and Ava Rowbotham were also on the scoresheet.

Plymouth currently sit ninth in the National League standings, having collected six points from six games.

They have won two of their opening six league fixtures, including in their most recent outing at Chatham.

Quirk, Tierney Scott and Ella Humphrey were on target as Sadler's side beat the Pilgrims to reach the National League Cup semi-finals last season.

And Emma Jones added to Rowbotham's early strike in a 2-1 success in the Blues' last league trip to Plymouth.

The game takes place at AFC Torpoint (PL11 2RE), with tickets available to buy at the turnstiles.

Supporters at home can keep up to date with the action via the club's social media accounts.

There will be full coverage of the day and key match updates on Twitter (X), while photos and key information will be posted on Facebook and Instagram.

A match report will be posted on the website shortly after the final whistle, while there will be post-match reaction posted on Pompey Women's social channels.

Highlights of the match will be available to watch the following day.
