Loan Round-Up: Three Pompey Players Hit The Target

Mnoga, Ojo and Hurst all score for their clubs

25 September 2023

Several members of the Pompey squad were involved for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Haji Mnoga
The defender helped Aldershot bounce back from a 2-1 National League defeat at Barnet in midweek.

He doubled their lead away to Boreham Wood after advancing forward and firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

It ensured a 2-1 victory that sees the 11th-placed Shots now sitting just four points adrift of the play-off spots.

Destiny Ojo
The academy striker also found the target after starting away to Hanwell Town in the Southern League Premier.

He nodded home from a corner just before the interval to double the Dolphins’ advantage in a 3-0 triumph.

Maxwell Hurst
It was another successful substitute appearance for the teenage striker in Baffins’ home match against Andover New Street last Tuesday.

He came on in the second half and scored a header, then provided an assist for Danny Burroughs in a resounding 5-0 success.

It leaves the side sitting second in the Wessex League Premier, although Hurst was not involved at the weekend when Rovers won at Hythe & Dibden in the FA Vase.

Toby Steward
The keeper helped Gosport battle from behind to win 4-1 at Merthyr in the Southern League Premier.

It meant that Borough stayed above their opponents in second position, just a couple of points behind leaders Chesham.

Josh Oluwayemi
There was an instant return to the Chelmsford side for the keeper after sitting out their FA Cup ties with Ware due to a suspension.

But the Clarets slipped to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against St Albans in National League South.

Harvey Laidlaw
The full-back was recalled from his loan with Gosport and sent to Horndean in the Isthmian League South East Division.

He was thrown straight into the starting line-up against Herne Bay, but The Deans lost 4-2 after playing more than half the match with just 10 men.
