Match Preview: Chatham Town v Pompey Women

Blues back on the road

14 September 2023

Pompey Women return to action when they take on Chatham Town on Sunday (2.30pm kick-off).

It is the Blues' second consecutive National League game on the road after a 1-0 defeat at Hashtag United last weekend.

Jay Sadler's side go into the game having registered six points from their opening three fixtures, with comfortable victories recorded over Cheltenham and Cardiff.

Newly named Chatham – who were previously known as Gillingham – have collected a single point so far, sitting 10th in the embryonic table.

They drew 0-0 with Billericay, but have also suffered defeats to Hashtag and MK Dons, and were beaten 4-0 by Oxford last Sunday.

Anaisa Harney, who now plays for Chatham, was the only scorer in February when Pompey beat the Gills 1-0 at The Sports Ground.

The Blues are proud to support the home side as they dedicate the fixture to raising awareness and critical funds for Children with Cancer UK.

This is an especially significant cause, as the brother of Chatham defender Lenny Priest is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia.
