Pompey Women Host Oxford On Sunday

Blues return to league action at Westleigh Park

20 September 2023

Pompey Women return to National League action on Sunday when they welcome Oxford to Westleigh Park (2pm kick-off).

Jay Sadler's side come into the game on the back of a resounding 8-0 victory at Chatham last weekend.

Georgie Freeland and Dani Lane both bagged a brace in Kent, while Emma Jones, Beth Lumsden and Emily Pitman were also on the scoresheet before an own-goal completed the rout.

This weekend will see the Blues in action on home soil since a resounding 9-0 success against Cardiff at the start of the month.

Sophie Quirk and Jones grabbed a double either side of the interval on that occasion, with Dani Lane came off the bench to hit a 17-minute hat-trick.

Annie Rolf also contributed to the haul against the Welsh outfit, while Pitman rounded things off in stoppage-time.

While Pompey are sitting fourth in the embryonic National League standings – holding a game in hand on all the sides above them – their next opponents are two places and the same number of points further back.

Oxford have won two of their opening five league fixtures, including last Sunday's comfortable 5-0 home win over Plymouth.

Supporters are strongly advised to book tickets online here to avoid queues on the day.
