John Mousinho has been named League One Manager of the Season at the EFL Awards.
In his first full season as a head coach, the 37-year-old has guided Pompey to within one point of securing promotion to the Championship.
He saw off competition from Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson and Stevenage’s Steve Evans to claim the prize at a ceremony in London.
Mousinho was presented with his trophy by EFL chief executive – and former Pompey administrator – Trevor Birch.
The Blues boss said: “I’ve loved it here. When the call came in, I didn’t expect to be offered the job and so I want to thank the club for taking that risk – it was a big one.
“They’ve put a lot of faith in me to achieve what we’re trying to achieve and the players have been incredible.
“We’ve got three lads in the Team of the Year and it gives me even more pride to see them there than me winning.
“We obviously would love to have finished the job yesterday, but now we’ve got a big game on Tuesday night.”
Earlier in the night, Marlon Pack, Conor Shaughnessy and Will Norris were named in the League One Team of the Season.
Pack was shortlisted for League One Player of the Season and EFL Player in the Community, but lost out to Peterborough’s Harrison Burrows and Sheffield Wednesday’s Will Vaulks respectively.
Pompey were also nominated for the EFL Fan Engagement Award, with Blackburn emerging victorious in that category.
