Ogilvie: Atmosphere Will Be Electric

Defender looking forward to Derby contest

1 April 2024

There are not many better places to be than at a packed Fratton Park under the lights.

Throw in the fact that League One leaders Pompey are hosting second-placed Derby on Tuesday evening and it is a contest to savour.

Connor Ogilvie is certainly relishing the opportunity to take part in such a mouth-watering fixture, which is being beamed to the nation by Sky Sports.

And he believes the home faithful have a big role to play as the Blues try to take another step closer to promotion.

The defender said: “Everyone’s ready and raring to go for what is obviously a massive match for both sides.

“The game being moved to the Tuesday for television coverage means we’ve had an extra day to recover and prepare.

“We’re all looking forward to it and everyone’s determined to secure the results that will get this team to where it should be.

“I imagine that Fratton Park will be rocking from minute one right the way to the end just like it always is.

“I’m sure the fans will be in full voice and it should be an electric atmosphere under the lights, which can only help us.

“We’re taking each game as it comes and know that everything is in our own hands, so we’ll just remain focused on that.

“As long as we keep that up and not worry too much about anyone else, then I’m sure we will be where we want to be.”

Ogilvie returned to the side for Pompey’s Good Friday win at Wycombe after missing the previous three games with a knee injury.

He said: “It was disappointing to be out, but I worked hard to get back as soon as possible and am looking to stay fit for the rest of the season.”

Tickets for the game have sold out, but the ticket exchange remains open until midday on Tuesday, so keep checking to see if any seats become available.
