Conor Shaughnessy has been named Men’s Players’ Player of the Season at Pompey’s 2023/24 awards dinner.

It caps a brilliant couple of days for the defender after he scored the winning goal against Barnsley that secured the League One title last night.

The women’s team have also guaranteed the silverware in their division and striker Emma Jones was selected as Player of the Season by her team-mates.

Guests at the gala ceremony selected their own Player of the Season winners, choosing Marlon Pack from the men’s team, while Jones collected her second award of the night

They were also asked to pick Pompey’s Goal of the Season, with Owen Moxon’s fine strike against Derby beating out efforts from Terry Devlin, Nicole Barrett and Ava Rowbotham.

Georgie Freeland was named the Women’s Young Player of the Season, while Mitch Aston collected the Academy Player of the Season prize.

Skipper Marlon Pack was recognised for his excellent work off the pitch with the Community Player of the Season award.

And Leanne Howard’s fantastic support of the Blues saw her walk away with the Fan of the Season trophy.

The night was presented by Fratton Park stadium announcer Lloyd Ashton, with BBC Radio Solent’s Pompey commentator Andrew Moon conducting Q&As.

He spoke to Blues boss John Mousinho, alongside skipper Pack and keeper Will Norris, later chatting with women’s team head coach Jay Sadler, captain Hannah Haughton and midfielder Leeta Rutherford.

Former Blues striker Mick Quinn was the after dinner speaker, while a raffle and auction were held to raise money for Pompey in the Community and the academy.
