Ryley Towler was delighted that Pompey were able to conclude a successful campaign on a high.
A 2-0 victory at Lincoln ensured the champions finished on 97 points – five ahead of closest challengers Derby and 10 clear of third-placed Bolton.
Goals from Myles Peart-Harris and Paddy Lane got the job done after Will Norris had saved Danny Mândroiu’s penalty.
And Towler revelled in the scenes at the end of the game, when the players were able thank the travelling supporters.
“I absolutely loved it,” said the defender. “The main things was to get the win, but you could see all the boys out there and enjoying their football.
“It was a great penalty save from Will that kept us in the game and then we just kicked on from there.
"We went a bit longer, got the result and it was great to be able to celebrate with the fans at the end."
“I thought some of the stuff we were playing in the first half was brilliant and then Lincoln had to come at us more after the break.
“There were always going to be opportunities and we managed to catch them on the break a couple of times.

Towler was making just his third league start of the season, but impressed at the heart of the back-line.
He said: “Of course it’s been difficult at times, but the boys have been brilliant all the way through and I’ve tried to keep knocking on the door.
“I just kept my head down and worked hard in training. I can’t speak highly enough of this team, though.
“It’s still been some season for me and you might only get one promotion in your career, so you have to enjoy it.”
