Abu Kamara is certainly enjoying a successful first full season in senior football.
The forward – on loan from Norwich – has featured in every League One match for Pompey so far this term.
He has already found the back of the net on six occasions, including an impressive brace at Shrewsbury before Christmas.
Kamara is eager to keep improving, but has enjoyed his recent swap with Paddy Lane from the left flank to the right.
The 20-year-old said: “I know what I want to do when I get on the ball, where it was all new for me on when I was on the other side.
“It was a bit difficult trying to make things happen, but it’s more natural for me to cut inside on my left foot.
"You just need to keep working hard on in training in order to take those chances when they come along."
“The goals I’ve scored is a decent return for a first loan, although I’m hard on myself and know I could have had more.
“The ball wasn’t falling for me quite right against Stevenage on Monday, but that can happen sometimes.
“You just need to keep working hard on in training in order to take those chances when they come along.
“But everyone in the group is really positive in training, I’m playing most of the games and I can’t really ask for much more at the moment.”
Pompey’s next game sees them travel to a Cheltenham outfit who have recovered from a dreadful start to the season and are now just three points shy of the safety mark.
Kamara said: “They’re a good side and were well organised when we played them earlier in the season, so expect that to be the same again.
“But we’re looking to take the three points home and so will have to work hard to find a way around that.”
