It was a moment of magic that ensured Pompey would make the long trip home from Fleetwood with all three points.
Abu Kamara collected a pass from Marlon Pack, beat two opposition players and fired the ball into the net from outside the box.
That was enough to secure the points at Highbury Stadium, despite a late spell of pressure from the struggling hosts.
And the man who got that all-important goal was delighted to help the table-topping Blues return to winning ways.
Kamara said: “It’s great, first and foremost, to come away with all three points and we stuck to the game-plan well.
“I saw Marlon get the ball and picked up a little pocket on the right. I saw the man try to press me and have taken a touch to get away from him.
"It looked pretty central to me when I looked up after hitting it, but I’ll take the goal."
“Then I saw another guy and just dropped the shoulder, then I thought ‘why not?’. I hit it and thankfully it’s gone in.
“Worst case, he parries the ball and one of my team-mates gets it, so I wanted to get it out from under my feet.
“It looked pretty central to me when I looked up after hitting it, but I’ll take the goal. It’s something that I need to add to my game, taking more shots.
“The conditions were tough – the pitch was soft, so it was a bit heavy on the legs. The important thing, though, is that we played our game to come away with the points.”
Kamara was playing a more central role after John Mousinho switched to a 3-4-2-1 system against Fleetwood.
He said: “I didn’t mind it – I’m comfortable in the 10 position. It makes it easier playing alongside Lowers and the lads were behind me.”
