Raggett: We've Reached The Business End

Defender not getting carried away ahead of Wycombe trip

The Easter fixtures could have a big say over whether Pompey are a Championship club next season.

A trip to Wycombe on Good Friday is followed by a televised Fratton contest with fellow promotion hopefuls Derby on the Tuesday.

After experiencing a few heartbreaking near-misses, Sean Raggett hopes this is the campaign when the Blues will be able to celebrate.

But despite the excitement continuing to build, he is determined not to lose focus on the task at hand.

The defender said: “There’s no better place to be than top of the table – but the boys are just concentrating on each game as it comes along.

“It’s a long old season and now we’re down to the final seven fixtures, so it’s certainly an important time for us.

“We’ve been confident from day one and now we’re at the business end, as you saw at Peterborough, that’s still the same.

“This is a great squad – probably the best we’ve had since I’ve been here – and that obviously plays a huge part.

“I can’t speak for what promotion would mean for everyone else, but it would definitely be a big deal for me.

“Right from signing on day one, originally on loan, I said that was the aim, so it would be a massive achievement.

“But we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, so we’ll concentrate on Wycombe and can hopefully celebrate at the end of the season.

“It’s always a difficult game going there and they offer a physical test, so we’ll have to be ready to deal with that.”
