Christian Saydee is enjoying being part of a Pompey side involved in an exciting League One promotion chase.
The powerful forward has mostly been used from the bench since being signed from Bournemouth last summer.
A favourite with the fans, he opened his league goalscoring account by grabbing the winner against Oxford in the most recent Fratton fixture.
Next up is a south coast clash with Burton on Tuesday evening and Saydee is hoping for a similar outcome.
He said: “It feels very good to be where we are – and it wasn’t something I really expected when I first joined the club last summer.
“All the boys are just trying to tick off each game as it comes. Hopefully we can keep winning and see how far that takes us.

“Personally, I feel like I’ve come a long way since last season and am learning lots of new things. I’ve become a better player.
“That goal against Oxford was something I’d been waiting for and it did feel like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
“But the group and the staff have given me so much confidence and I want to take that out on the pitch.
“There are times when you’re frustrated if you’re not contributing, but it doesn’t really matter as long as the group is winning.”
Saydee previously made 18 appearances for the Brewers as a teenager during a stint in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.
He said: “It was my first loan in League One and it opened my eyes to men’s football – it wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be.
“But the main thing for me was to find somewhere where I can settle down and kick on like I have done here.”
