Pompey Women: Five Options Taken Up

Quintet of Blues set to stay

30 May 2024

Pompey Women have taken up the option to extend the deals of five players.

Nicole Barrett, Jazz Younger, Ava Rowbotham, Emma Jones and Izzy Collins will all be staying on the south coast for the Blues' maiden Championship campaign.

They join Hannah Haughton, Annie Rolf, Daisy McLachlan, Ella Humphrey, Georgie Freeland, Scarlett Williams and Emily Pitman, who all remain under contract.

Right-back Nicole Barrett arrived on the south coast in 2022 and has since made 61 appearances, scoring eight goals. She won October Goal of the Month last season for her free-kick against Billericay, and netted a crucial strike in the 2-1 victory over Hashtag United in January.

Jazz Younger remains Jay Sadler's longest-serving player as she enters her seventh season with Pompey. The defender has made 116 outings and continues to recover from an ACL injury sustained in February.

Vice-captain Ava Rowbotham makes the step up to the Championship after a strong campaign with the Blues. The 24-year-old now sits on 106 appearances and scored 11 goals from midfield last season.

Emma Jones goes into the Championship season after finishing 2023/24 as Pompey's top-scorer. The forward hit the target 18 times in all competitions, including a late brace at Cardiff, the winner against Hashtag United and that memorable strike against Ipswich.

And young defender Izzy Collins continues her journey on the south coast after joining in 2022. The 21-year-old has made 45 appearances for Jay Sadler's side and is set for her first taste of Championship football.
