Former Pompey goalkeeper Henderson made a loan return to Fratton Park on deadline day in January 2018.

The Irishman's hopes of a dream return were cruelly dashed on his second debut for the Blues, as he suffered a quadriceps injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Started his career at Aston Villa before moving to Bristol City in 2007.

He made five first-team appearances for The Robins in a four-year spell which also saw him gain valuable experience in several loan spells to EFL clubs, most notably a season playing for Yeovil Town in League One in 2010-11.

His impressive form that season helped earn him a move to Pompey, for whom he made 25 appearances in the Championship, before joining West Ham.

He had spells out on loan at Ipswich Town and Bournemouth during his time at Upton Park before making the switch to The Valley in 2014.

Made 15 appearances for parent club Nottingham Forest in 2016/17 before his campaign was cruelly ended by injury.

The Irish stopper was thrust into the Forest team after 20 minutes of the first match of the 2016-17 season following an injury to Dorus De Vries and he went on to feature six further times before losing his place in the side to Vladimir Stojkovic.

At the start of 2017 Henderson was recalled into the starting line-up and impressed with his domination of his penalty area and a number of crucial saves before suffering an Achilles injury in the game at Norwich City which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
