Ronan arrived at Fratton Park on a loan deal until the end of the season in January 2018, alongside fellow Wolves youngster Sylvain Deslandes.

Made his Blues bow in the Checkatrade Trophy third round defeat to Chelsea Under-21s in January 2018, before being named man-of-the-match in his league debut against Shrewsbury later the same week.

The attacking midfielder – held in high regard by development bosses at Molineux – was first part of the youth setup at Rochdale, before making the switch to the West Midlands in 2014.

Made three Checkatrade Trophy appearances for Wanderers’ Under-23s in 2016/17 – during which he scored once – before making his league debut in December 2016 against Nottingham Forest.

Netted a fine 25-yard free kick against Pompey in the Premier League Cup in February 2017, as he continued to impress for the development squad.

A back injury towards the end of the season delayed his progress, but he returned to feature seven times in league and cup in 2017/18.

Shone brightly during a cameo appearance for Wolves in their spirited EFL Cup fourth round penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City, so much so he gained the admiration of Belgium international Kevin de Bruyne, who seeked him out to swap shirts after the game.

Capped for both England and Republic of Ireland – for whom he is also eligible – at youth level.
