Versatile Donohue made 65 appearances for Chesterfield after arriving at the Proact Stadium in 2015, scoring once during that time.
Named 2016/17 Players’ Player of the Season, the midfielder – who can also operate as a full back – played junior football with Welsh club Bodedern Athletic before spending six years at Everton’s academy.
In 2011 he returned to Wales and played amateur football with Porthmadog, Holyhead Hotspur and Caernarfon Town.
Donohue signed for English Non-League side Sutton Coldfield Town in 2014, guiding them to promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division 1 South.
The Welshman’s performances earned him a trial with the Spireites in 2015, where he impressed to earn a professional contract, before making his professional debut for Chesterfield on September 12, 2015 against Colchester.
He made his move to the south coast for an undisclosed fee in August 2017 on a two-year deal, with the club holding the option for a further 12 months.
