The defender joined Pompey from Bristol City during the January transfer window in 2023.
He is a graduate of the Bristol City academy and gained experience with spells on loan at Grimsby and AFC Wimbledon.
Towler endeared himself to the Fratton faithful by bagging a late brace as the Blues fought from behind to beat Bolton 3-1 just a month after signing.
