The Wales international midfielder joined Pompey from Luton in August 2021.
He started all four games for his country at that summer's delayed European Championship, including the 2-0 group stage victory over Turkey.
Morrell progressed through the ranks at Bristol City and had several spells out on loan – including under former Blues boss Danny Cowley at Lincoln – before making the switch to Luton in 2020.
He featured for Wales at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, then scored his first Pompey goal against Exeter the following month.
