In On Loan
from Cardiff City

Stuart O'Keefe

Date of birth

Joined Pompey on a season-long loan from Championship high-flyers Cardiff on deadline day in the summer of 2017 and went straight into the Blues' starting XI three days later for their league clash with Rotherham.

Scored his first goal for the club against Crawley in the Checkatrade Trophy in early October, before adding to his tally in the second round of the same competition - against Northampton - on December 2.

In all, featured 25 times in all competitions for the Blues, despite the latter part of his loan spell being blighted by injury.

A product of Ipswich Town’s academy, O’Keefe moved to Southend United in 2008, making his professional debut during the Shrimpers’ 2-0 FA Cup win over Telford in November.

The combative midfielder then switched to Crystal Palace in 2010 at the age of 19, where he featured as part of the Eagles’ side that achieved Premier League promotion via the playoffs in 2013.

Played a dozen games in the top tier in 2013/14, his solitary goal during that time coming in a 3-1 win over Sunderland.

Joined Cardiff in January 2015 following a loan spell at Blackpool, going on to become a key part of the 2015/16 side that pushed for a Sky Bet Championship place.

In all, O’Keefe made 43 appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring twice, having spent the second half of the 2016/17 season on loan at MK Dons.
