History

Portsmouth was granted academy status at the beginning of the 2007/2008 season. In their first year as an academy side, they finished a highly respectable 4th-place finish in the Premier League Academy Group A, beating some well-established academy sides during that time. In the 2012-13 season, the Academy won the Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference.

In more recent seasons, the academy has had some of its most successful seasons to date, competing at the higher end of their current division and advancing the furthest it ever has in the Youth Alliance Cup, (reaching the quarter-final stage), as well as recent graduates making EFL appearances for the first time in a few years. The more recent of these is Harry Jewitt-White, who came off the bench to feature against Peterborough in January 2023.

Throughout the years, Pompey has had several academy graduates come through and excel within the professional pyramids, some whilst wearing the Blue, Red and White of Portsmouth and others going on to achieve success following their footballing education with the Blues.

The academy currently operates at the Category Three level and currently plays in the Football League Youth Alliance South-West Division and also competes in the FA Youth Cup.
