Sam joined Pompey as Assistant PDP Lead coach for the U18s in the summer of 2022. He spent the 2021/22 season working at Aston Villa in the Youth Development Phase.
Prior to that, he worked at Derby County for 4 seasons, with 3 seasons at Burton Albion, both in academy coaching roles.
Sam has also coached in Wales, Sweden and lived in the USA for 2 years, coaching in New York City. A published author too, releasing “Football in a Pandemic” in 2021.
Sam also holds the UEFA A license coaching license, with two degrees from The University of South Wales. Along with his coaching work for professional clubs, he is also a tactical analyst & coaching consultant for The Coaches Voice & The Premier League.
Following the success within the PDP phase since joining the club, Hudson was promoted to the position of lead professional development phase coach in March 2023.
