Yeovil triumph sees Blues claim prize

Pompey’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy triumph at Yeovil has seen them awarded the Team of the Round prize.

They were 3-1 victors in Somerset in the first round, thanks to a Jed Wallace brace and Craig Westcarr’s neat finish.

Blues boss Andy Awford was presented with a trophy by Johnstone’s Paint representative David Downes.

And Pompey will also receive Johnstone’s Paint product to use on a club project.

Awford said: “We were delighted to get the victory at Yeovil and for it to lead to us winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Team of the Round award is a real bonus.

“It was a really good team performance on the night and will hopefully lead to a long run in the competition.”

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, added: “It was a very tough decision because there were some excellent first round performances.

“But Pompey went to a team from a higher division and produced an eye-catching display and result that tipped the balance in their favour.”

The Blues’ reward for beating Yeovil is a second round home tie with Northampton on Tuesday. Click here to buy tickets.

Johnstone’s Paint is now in its ninth season of bringing colour to the beautiful game through its sponsorship of the Football League Trophy.
